More Patients in the Netherlands Seeking Help With Gender Dysphoria
Researchers say the number of patients seeking help with gender dysphoria has grown "exponentially" in the Netherlands.
Based on data from the VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam, the number of gender dysphoria patients increased 20-fold between 1972 and 2015.
Almost 6,800 people sought treatment at the center during that time. About 65% were transwomen, and 35% were transmen.
More details on the study, including types of therapy sought, number of gonadectomy procedures, and rates of regret can be found here.
