I addressed all students last week outlining the Core Values and the Expected Behaviours for all students both in classrooms and during out of class activities whether at school or at another location. All students have been accepting of this with the wonderful community spirit that is evident each day at our school. I would like to congratulate students on their appearance and their willingness to take on the changes we are making with our uniforms to improving the overall image of the school. A big thank you to our parents also. Should you require assistance in purchasing uniforms, paying fees or providing students with books and other requirements, please contact the school as we do have funding to support students and allowing them to engage fully in their learning. All our students have settled well and it is a pleasure each day to see happy, smiling faces, enthusiastic chatter and feel the friendly vibe that radiates around the school. I would like to warmly welcome new staff who have been permanently appointed to the school: Mr Leighton – English The Swimming Carnivals were held last week. The level of participation in events was very high and all students are to be commended on their participation, behaviour and the house spirit that was displayed on the two days. I was most impressed with the outfits of both staff and students who went all out to promote their House and it associated colour. Congratulations to Watson House, victors for the second year, well done to all! The Meet the Parents afternoon was well attended and it was a great opportunity for our new parents to meet the teachers of their students and to also get an insight into how students are finding their new environment and meeting the challenges of secondary school. I look forward to working with you during the year and am looking forward to a very successful 2019 for our school. How good do our new seniors look in their jackets? Welcome to our new distance education students and to all those who are returning to us once more. This year we have fantastic opportunities for students to engage in their distance education studies. From Mini-schools to Learning Hubs there are numerous opportunities to get help with your school work, socialise with other students studying via a distance, have fun and mix it up. Distance education can be a challenge not only for students but also their supervisors. At CHHS we have a number of staff who are able to help everyone. The first point of call is the student’s DE co-ordinator. Every student has a co-ordinator who will answer all your questions or point you in the right direction for issues that are not related to a particular subject. Remember if you have a question about learning materials and the course work you should contact your teacher or Head Teacher of that subject. DE co-ordinators will help with all other enquiries, for example, if you would like organise a visit to the school or if you are sick or not able to complete course work for any reason.
Students are able to use their phone to sign-on in the mornings. Download a loyalty card app like 'Stocard', add your barcode, and scan your card from your phone!
