Webversion COMPETENCE IN PAPER NewsletterJune 2021 From the officeDear ZELLCHEMING members and friends, The first virtual ZELLCHEMING general meeting and the Virtual Days are already a few days behind us. With this event we have recognized the signs of the times and have courageously broken new ground. I am pleased that we were able to achieve complete success with it. The ZELLCHEMING Virtual Days kicked off on June 8, 2021 with our association's Annual General Meeting, which was held online and focused on the realignment of technical committees and district groups as well as the board elections. Petra Hanke, Gerrit Lund We are proud to have lived up to our claim of being the platform for professional technical exchange for all those involved in the development of sustainable paper and cellulose-based products. Our team, as well as all participants, sponsors and partner companies who actively supported us, had to complete an enormous learning curve within a very short time - but: it was worth it!" We wish you all a great summer and stay healthy! Petra Hanke Members' Assembly OnlineReport from the association years 2019 and 2020At the Annual General Meeting, Chairman Gerrit Lund, together with Dr. Ernst-Ulrich Wittmann and Executive Director Petra Hanke, reported on the association year 2019 & 2020, focusing on topics such as the postponement/cancellation of the ZELLCHEMING-Expo and Conference and the digitalization of the association. Dr.-Ing. Ernst-Ulrich Wittmann, Gerrit Lund In the financial report, the treasurer Carsten Melchert presented the financial situation of the association in times of Corona transparently to the members and reported on the support measures taken. Reorientation of Technical Committees & District GroupsProf. Markus Biesalski presented in his lecture the restructuring of the main committee. The goal is to expand more visibility & transparency of the work in the technical committees and regional groups as well as to strengthen attractiveness for (new) members. Participants Science Flash, Prof. Dr. Markus Biesalski To achieve this, we will set ourselves up in a more agile and future-oriented way by establishing three additional working groups:
Restructuring and new notation of district groups In autumn 2020, the boards of ZELLCHEMING and VPM Munich decided on a new concept and division of the regional groups into the areas West, North, East and South. In this context, it was decided to name the groups Regional Groups in the future. The naming was changed to "Regional Groups" with a clear majority as a member resolution. The content of the groups will be based on the current topics of the paper and fiber-based industry. ElectionsNew steering committeeA new board was elected. The new chairman is Dr. Ernst-Ulrich Wittmann, who is supported by his deputy chairman Prof. Dr. Helga Zollner-Croll. Carsten Melchert was confirmed in office as treasurer, as was Prof. Markus Biesalski as main committee chairman. f.l.t.r.: U. Wittmann, G. Lund, H. Zollner-Croll, P. Hanke, C. Melchert Dr. E.-Ulrich Wittmann, has taken over from Gerrit Lund as chairman of the ZELLCHEMING association. "We have set an example with this event: Internally and externally. We will build on this in the future," says Ulrich Wittmann. Fit for the futureThe software of the ZELLCHEMING member database is outdated and can no longer be maintained. It still serves as an interface to the protected member area of the previous association homepage. The voluntary work should be strengthened by digital solutions and transparent filing systems. The communication and knowledge exchange among the members shall be promoted. The new software will be web-based and offer a DSGVO-compliant infrastructure that can be accessed by any user from any location and with any terminal device. 97.67% of the members present approved the acquisition and implementation of an association software/CRM system and the associated expenses.
