Facebook's potential power has always been clear. Not just with its reach (2.2 billion monthly users and counting), but in the personal information it holds. There was always the potential for that information to be taken and used in ways we might not be happy with. And that's exactly what's happened. A data grab from around 50m Facebook accounts was taken, mostly without user consent, and passed to Cambridge Analytica, a company that offers services to businesses and political parties who want to 'change audience behaviour'.
