Upcoming Outdoor Program Opportunities

The Outdoor Program will host its final trip of Trimester 2 by biking around the San Juan Islands for a weekend. More information about the trip can be found on the Outdoor Program webpage.

Peer Mentoring Applications due March 3

There are still a couple of weeks left to complete the Peer Mentoring application. If your current 10th or 11th grader is thinking about this as an option for next school year, now is the time to apply! The application is due by end-of-day Sunday, March 3.

The Peer Mentoring class offers juniors and seniors the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge base around issues that can impact teenagers. Here are insights from previous peer mentors about what the class has meant to them:

“I'm so grateful I got to be peer mentor. It had a big impact on my perspective and is definitely one of the big factors that shaped who I am today. I think the Peer Mentoring class is the one I utilize in my own personal life the most out of any classes I took at NWS.” - Mentor, 2016-17

“Peer Mentors can help other students through very difficult situations, whether it is as simple as homework or as complex as talking about mental health; peer mentors are always here to help.” - Mentor, 2014-15

Questions can be directed to Megan Reibel, Erin North, or Ryan Griffiths.

Spring Break and Summer Camp Registrations Now Open

This year, we will be offering spring break camps for any students in 5th-9th grade, on April 8-12. Campers do not need to be Northwest School students.

Online registration for both spring break and summer camps are now open. Summer camp will run from July 8 to August 6. Class selections include annual favorites such as Stained Glass, DIY Robots, and Cooking with NWS, as well as new offerings like Leadership for Social Justice, Urban Farm-to-Table, and Graphic Design.

More information about camps can be found here. Please contact Summer Camp and Extended Learning Director Leilani Nussman with any questions.
