The DeVito-Lipner Family Fund for Undergraduate Student Research

Thanks to a generous donation from the DeVito-Lipner family dating back to 2014, the department has a small fund available to support undergraduate research. Awards of up to $1500 (paid directly to the student as a stipend) are available to support any aspect of undergraduate research, including honors theses. Supported research activities may include (but are not limited to) student salaries, research equipment or software, research materials, scholarly materials (e.g. books), printing costs, participant compensation, conference registration, and travel. All funds must be spent over the course of the year.

Spring 2024 Psychology Graduation Celebration

The Psychology Department will host a celebratory reception for candidates on Friday, April 26th (late afternoon; exact time TBD). December 2023 graduates and August 2024 candidates are invited to attend. This is not a formal graduation ceremony, but a reception with food and music where you and your family can celebrate with faculty and other students. Invitations and updates will be sent via your Pitt email as they are available.

Office of National Scholarships Newsletter

Welcome to our first Office of National Scholarships monthly newsletter. Our office supports all Pitt students and some recent alumni who are interested in seeking a nationally competitive award. We created this newsletter to increase awareness in the broader Pitt community about the variety of national and prestigious awards that exist. Learn more about different types of awards, hear from Pitt winners about their scholarship experience, learn best practices when applying for awards, hear directly from those involved in the application process, and share successes both large and small. Majors and Minors Fair - February 22, 2024

Student governmnet Board is hosting the Majors and Minors Fair from 11-2 next Thursday, February 22nd in the WPU Assembly room and Ballroom. We'll have representatives from almost every Dietrich school department,  the Frederick Honors College, the Gen Ed Taskforce, and the Open Educational Resources Committee. Students who attend will be entered to win AirPod Pros and gift cards.

Pitt’s American Medical Student Association (AMSA) Research Fair

We are currently organizing a student research fair that will occur in WPU Dining Room B on March 22nd from 3:30-5:30pm. We are hoping to provide an opportunity for undergraduate researchers from all areas of study to present their research and for underclassmen to learn about the research their peers are doing here on campus. I was wondering if we would be able to advertise our event on the Psychology Departments email, newsletter, and/or website. APA Summer Undergraduate Psychology Experience in Research (SUPER) Fellowships

Undergraduate students who are enrolled in the Fall 2024 term and committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion are encouraged to apply for the APA SUPER Fellowship, which provides a $4,000 stipend to the student to conduct summer laboratory research and $1,000 to their faculty host. All areas of psych science are welcome!  Applications are due March 1, 2024 - apply here!

Research Assistant, Vanderbilt University

The person in this position will help collect and analyze behavioral, EEG, and fMRI studies of psychopathology symptoms, with a focus on internalizing symptoms. The Term Research Assistant I will participate in a wide range of activities that support the lab such as overseeing IRB compliance, screening and recruiting participants, conducting clinical interviews, administering cognitive tests to participants, collecting EEG and neuroimaging data, monitoring ecological momentary assessment data collection, training volunteers, managing subject payments, updating the lab manual and website, purchasing supplies, maintaining databases, assisting with data processing and analysis, contributing to manuscript preparation, and assisting with grant-related documents. This position is ideal for a candidate interested in gaining hands-on experience before pursuing further training in psychology, medicine, neuroscience, or a related field. Lab Manager, Northwestern University

The Northwestern University Adolescent Development and Preventive Treatment (ADAPT) program is seeking applications for a lab manager. 

Currently we are running a number of protocols with typically developing, prodromal syndrome and early psychosis populations focusing on biomarker, treatment, and scale development. Join

The successful applicants will join a team of lab managers and project coordinators responsible for overseeing undergraduate research assistants, coordinating research projects (recruiting, scheduling, running participants), processing IRB protocols, independently running EEG assessments, conducting cognitive assessments and both processing and analyzing data. Competitive applicants will have had previous experience working or volunteering in a human research setting. Candidates from diverse or historical marginalized backgrounds are highly encouraged to apply. This is an ideal positions for someone interested in building more skills before applying for graduate school in the next few years. You will get in-depth experience in a multidisciplinary team, build data skills, publish papers, attend conferences and make connections with a number of different psychopathology research groups. This position requires a commitment of 1 year.

Clinical Research Coordinator, Nationwide Children's Hospital

The Center for Biobehavioral Health (CBH), within the Abigail Wexner Research Institute (AWRI) at Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) in Columbus, Ohio, anticipates hiring 10-12 fulltime Clinical Research Coordinators in 2024. Research topics include biopsychosocial and medical outcomes experienced by children and their families facing developmental and health challenges in diverse pediatric populations (e.g., congenital heart disease, pediatric cancer, palliative care, prematurity, traumatic brain injury, craniofacial conditions).

Responsibilities may include management of IRB submissions and modifications; participant screening and recruitment; data collection in clinical, research, and community settings; data management and coding; participation in data analysis and dissemination of research results; collaboration on multi-site projects; and supervision of undergraduate research assistants. Most research teams require a 1 or 2-year commitment.

Full-time Research Assistant, UPMC

The YETI Lab aims to better understand and improve the lives of young people at clinical high risk for psychosis (CHR) by studying their interactions, biomarkers and clinical profiles.

Candidates for the position will have the opportunity to work on two different research studies in an inclusive, cohesive workspace, along with the opportunity to grow professionally in a research setting.
