Statins and Erections After Radical Prostatectomy

Taking statins before a radical prostatectomy doesn't appear to help erections recover afterward, according to a recent Journal of Sexual Medicine study. 

Prostatectomy involves surgically removing the prostate gland. Many men with prostate cancer have this procedure as part of their treatment plan. However, erectile dysfunction is a common problem afterward.

Because statins have anti-inflammatory properties, researchers investigated whether they could help erections after surgery.
