"So you want to be a physician-scientist?"

Students from across the country have been working with the American Physician Scientists Association (APSA) to coordinate and plan a diversity-recruitment event.

APSA Spotlight Week is scheduled from May 24 – May 27, 2021, and each day will have specific topics of interest from different institutions and organizations (as outlined below).

  • Keynote (end- and/or early-career physician scientist highlighting some aspect of diversity and their career interests)
  • Panel (topics to be coordinated across the week )
  • Institutional Happy Hour/Social Event (potentially using Gather.Town or another platform with current trainees at their institution)

There will also be a day hosted by APSA's Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) committee in collaboration with MSPA, whose topic of interest is LGBTQIA+ Identities in MD-PhD Training!

The topic of interest for the Meharry Medical College-Vanderbilt University day (Thursday, May 27, 2021) is "URMs and Anti-Racism", and they have partnered with the American Association of Black Physician-Scientists (AABPS) to uniquely highlight Black physician-scientists during their social event.
