ICYMI: An Update from Your President |
After a busy few months here at BATC there is much to share and celebrate. Your 2016 BATC President gave us a quick update on what we've been working on this fall including, the traffic during this fall's Parade of Homes, a summary of the work being done to elect housing champions and the NAHB and BAM situation. |
Homebuilding Trails Job Growth |
For every 7.9 jobs created in the 13-county metro area, only one house was built from 2013 through 2015, the National Association of Realtors (NAR) said in a report last week. The Twin Cities is the 16th-most undersupplied housing market in the nation. “This is a long-term problem, and it’s real,” said David Siegel, executive director at Builders Association of the Twin Cities. |
Special Session Prospects Fade, Again |
With the SW Light Rail transit project out of the special legislative session discussions, leaders are still finding roadblocks over transportation funding and hopes of a special session prior to the November 8th election have faded, again. Governor Dayton outlined his decision not to call a special session in a letter to leadership, which likely closes the door on any session to address capital projects, tax issues, and transportation funding in 2016. |
