Mitchell Memo November 2015

Three New MKE Routes from Frontier!

It’s been a busy year of new airline and route launches (more on that in the next article), and Frontier Airlines is launching the next three new routes from MKE!

New nonstop service to Las Vegas started this week and will be followed by daily nonstops to Fort Myers on December 19 and Orlando on January 5.  All flights will be operated with full-size Airbus aircraft.  Visit flyfrontier.com to find the lowest fares for Frontier Airlines.

2015: A Banner Year for New Routes!

It has been a busy year for new routes from MKE!  In 2015, we welcomed two new airlines, Alaska and OneJet, to Milwaukee.  Southwest, Delta, and Frontier also announced new nonstop flights from MKE.

Indianapolis - OneJet**
Dallas-Love - Southwest*
San Diego - Southwest*
Pittsburgh - OneJet**
Boston - Delta
Seattle - Alaska
Las Vegas - Frontier
Fort Myers - Frontier
Orlando - Frontier

*Southwest flights can be booked at Southwest.com
**OneJet flights can be booked at Expedia.com

More travelers are choosing MKE, too!  Our passenger traffic increased more than two percent in September!

Nonstop to Warm Beaches this Winter

Milwaukee's own Funjet Vacations as well as Apple Vacations are offering nonstop charter flights to six destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean this winter! In just a few short hours, you can be sitting on a lounge chair while watching  warm waves wash ashore at your favorite resort. Choose from MKE nonstop flights to Cancun, Cozumel/Riviera Maya, Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo, Montego Bay/Jamaica, Puerto Vallarta, and Punta Cana/Dominican Republic.  To book, go to funjet.com, applevacations.com or visit your friendly local travel agent.  Remember to avoid flight delays by choosing MKE as your departure airport.

Book Your Holiday Travel Now

Book your holiday travel now, before seats begin to fill and fares increase.  October is a great time to lock-in low fares from our air carriers.  MKE is the only airport in Wisconsin or Illinois with all the major domestic airlines, offering nonstop flights to 39 destinations and convenient one-stop connections to hundreds of domestic and international cities.

Our live piano players will return in mid-November, so arrive at the airport early and enjoy the music!

Visit the new Vino Volo Wine Bar at MKE

If you're looking for a great glass of wine and a tasty bite before your next flight, be sure to visit the new Vino Volo on Concourse C.  Vino Volo, derived from “wine flight” in Italian, is an innovative wine bar concept that features unique, hard-to-find wines paired with delicious food options from around the world.  You can even buy a bottle of wine to take home or have it shipped!

Add a Free Stopover in Toronto

Flying Air Canada through Toronto has always been a great way to connect to Europe and Asia from Milwaukee with just one convenient stop.  Now, it's even better with Air Canada's new Toronto Stopover program!  Extend your connection and explore the vibrant city of Toronto for up to one week for the same price as a usual roundtrip ticket and without any additional fees for breaking up your journey!  Click here to find out more.

Too Early is Better than Too Late

Due to increased security wait times during peak travel periods, travelers are encouraged to arrive at the airport 90 minutes before domestic flights and 120 minutes before international flights.  See the next two articles for more information on how you can get through the security checkpoint more quickly.

Getting You Through Security Faster

Are you looking to save time and make flying from Milwaukee's Mitchell Airport even easier? Apply for TSA Pre✓® expedited screening program!  For just $85 for five years, TSA Pre✓® trusted travelers experience expedited screening with dedicated lanes, and do not need to remove their shoes, belts or light jackets and can keep their laptops and 3-1-1 liquids in their carry-ons.  Visit TSA.gov or email frank.pipia@tsa.dhs.gov for more information.

For Just $15 More, Add Global Entry

If you frequently fly internationally, consider signing up for Global Entry. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection Global Entry program costs $100 for five years (and includes TSA Pre✓®) while allowing expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. Members enter the U.S. through automatic kiosks at a number of international airport, including MKE.

US Airways is now American Airlines

American Airlines and US Airways have fully merged their reservations system and operations.  As a result, the US Airways name has been retired and all flights are operating under the American Airlines brand.  All American Airlines flights now depart and arrive using Concourse D here at MKE.

One More Honor Flight This Year

Stars and Stripes Honor Flight honors all veterans by flying World War II, Korean War and terminally ill veterans from other conflicts to Washington, DC to visit their respective memorials. The Greatest Generation is slowly fading away, and Stars and Stripes Honor Flight has pledged to celebrate each and every remaining World War II and Korean War hero before it is too late.  More of these veterans will be aboard the next Honor Flight departing Mitchell Airport on November 7.
