2020 Staff Conference

The 2020 Staff conference has been rescheduled for Wednesday 15 July. Focused on Excellence in Teaching & Learning, the conference will be delivered online.

There will be activities around sharing practice and skills development, debating key issues, and learning about strategic developments from across the Coventry University Group.

It will also provide a forum for sharing lessons learned from the move to remote teaching and for updates on strategic initiatives such as the Digital Teaching and Learning Project (Aula implementation), the Student Engagement Programme, and curriculum developments (New Academic Year, Curriculum 2025, Accessibility & Inclusion).

Save the date to your diary.

Prevent - Training

Prevent is part of a Government initiative to help protect and safeguard vulnerable people who may be susceptible to radicalisation by extremist terrorist groups and ideology.

Anyone within the University who works with students are advised to engage with this training package.

We have now launched a new online package which contains video clips and interactive material,  provided by the Home Office. The online course gives you an opportunity to interact with the on-line materials and helps you to identify and therefore safeguard those who might be vulnerable to radicalisation.

Panos Sitarenios

"Being member of the Higher Education Academy is a recognition of my continuous effort to develop as an academic teacher."

HEA - more details

My name is Panos Sitarenios and I am a Lecturer in Civil Engineering Geotechnics in Coventry University. Before joining Coventry University, I studied for my PhD in Greece and I did Post-Doctoral Research in Italy. During my PhD studies, I was systematically teaching as a TA acquiring some teaching experience in an academic environment.

When and how did you get your AFHEA? I got my AFHEA in Spring 2020 after successfully completing Module “7000CRB - Developing and Enhancing Teaching Practice in HE” as part of the PGCert APHE, offered by Coventry University Academic Development Team.

Why was/is this important for you? Being member of the Higher Education Academy is a recognition of my continuous effort to develop as an academic teacher. HEA is a vibrant community of academic educators and thus presents increased opportunities for academic development through synergies.
