Are you worried about the safety of an incarcerated family member?
Are you searching for resources to help you navigate the system?
What should you expect when your family member is released?
Do you know what to expect when you go for a visit?
Find answers at the fourth annual Alabama Families of Prisoners Conference, hosted by Healthy You, Inc., on August 22 at the Dumas Wesley Community Center in Mobile. This year’s conference can provide needed support for your family though breakout sessions, exhibits and resources, guest speakers and panel discussions. A special Kids Conference for ages 6-15 will also take place during the event, and childcare will be available for children ages 5 and under.
When a crime is committed, the families of the perpetrator can be left behind to pick up the pieces. The Alabama Families of Prisoners Conference is designed to offer help to those neglected families. The conference idea was conceived by Mary Kay Beard, founder of the world-wide Angel Tree program, and Laure Clemons, founder of Extended Family, a support system for families of prisoners. An entire committee of dedicated professionals come together each year to create a conference structured to help families of prisoners with steps they need to take to overcome obstacles and have a better life. The conference offers help so that families can continue their lives with knowledge and hope for a brighter future. This year’s conference is supported by Extended Family (www.extendedfamilysupport.org) and Encourager Ministries, Inc. (www.encouragerministries.com).
