Monthly Mentor NewsletterFebruary 2020!Happy Black History Month!February is National Black History Month, a time to acknowledge and honor the legacy and achievements of Black people in the United States. At Oakland Promise, we are constantly reminded of our city's rich history and the pivotal role of Oakland natives, especially the Black Panther Party, in the fight for Black liberation in this country. This month, and every month, we recognize that Black history is American History, and the U.S. owes much of its cultural richness especially to the contributions of Black people in this country. Welcome to #FinAidFeb! This month's theme is dedicated to financial aid support! The deadline for FAFSA/California Dream Act applications is March 2nd.
