State of the Nation 2019The Careers & Enterprise Company has published its annual State of the Nation report. The report represents the most comprehensive assessment of careers education in England. The key findings include: • Careers Education is improving everywhere. • Two million young people are now engaging with employers at least once a year. • Young peoples’ skills and work readiness are improving • Schools, colleges and businesses now work together on a national scale BIMA Digital DayBIMA Digital Day gives 13-16 year olds an insight into a world of digital careers. As part of the day, students complete one of three sponsored challenges for a chance of winning a range of prizes including £500 for their school. In 2018, 97% of students said they understood the digital industry better and 78% said they would consider a digital job, after participating. If you were an engineer, what would you do?This engineering design competition brings engineering into the classroom and promotes career-related-learning. Students interview engineers and use their experience to think like an engineer and identify a problem, design a solution and write a letter stating why a working prototype should be made. All entries are graded by engineers and everyone receives a certificate showing their grade (Pass/Merit/Distinction). Level 3 Engineering ApprenticeshipsNetwork Rail are now accepting applications for their Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship scheme to start in March 2020, with 200 opportunities available all over Britain. Candidates must be aged 18 by 29th March 2020 and have a minimum of 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade A*-C / 9-5 in English, Maths, Science or Engineering and one other subject.
