Kennedy Parent's Connect - 8 March 2019 No Images? Click here Dear Parents & Friends, It is with great pleasure that I write this newsletter as President of the Kennedy Baptist College Parents & Friends Association for the second year running. I anticipate 2019 to be a year of exceptional opportunities as a part of our College community. Firstly, I would like to welcome all our Year 7 Parents and their children, along with the new families in other years who have begun their journey here at Kennedy. It is wonderful to have you join our College and I pray that the year ahead will be a remarkable one. The Parents & Friends Association held their Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 5 February. At the AGM the Executive Committee was voted in and I would like to introduce you to our Executive Committee:
I would like to particularly thank Simone Fedorczuk our outgoing Treasurer and Mrs Gail Pillai our outgoing Vice President. Thank you for your hard work and dedication during last year. We appreciated the time and effort you invested in the P&F and making sure all that needed to be done was done. We wish you all the very best in your future. As I glance over the 2019 Year Planner for the College, I cannot help but think that the year in the life of our students, teachers and staff is going to be very busy, while at the same time being productive, enriching and valuable. We are fortunate to be part of a community where opportunities, resources and faith in God form the very foundations to help teach and nurture our children. The P&F is part of that community and as parents and guardians you naturally play a significant part as members of the P&F. I would like to encourage you to be as actively involved as possible in our College community. There are so many ways that you can be kept up to date and engage in volunteering. Our P&F Facebook Page has become so popular that we now have over 750 members. This is such a great platform for parents to communicate, sell uniforms and books and ask general questions. We are in the process of setting up a page for each year group so parents can stay up to date with their year group and again ask questions for specific years. We are looking for a few parents to volunteer to be admininistrators for these so if you can spare a couple of hours per term please contact our Secretary, Lorinda via our email address. Volunteering OpportunitiesVolunteering in our Cafeteria, Research & Study Centre, Parent Prayer Group, Swimming & Athletics Carnivals, P&F Meetings and our Open Day are ways you can keep connected and be involved. You will receive emails from the College encouraging you to sign up for these events via SIGNUP.com. Look out for them in your inbox! We are also looking for more parent volunteers to be Year Group Reps. If this is something you would like to be involved in and are keen to organise social events for parents and keep the year group up to date, please email us and we can have a chat. It would be great to have these set up moving forward into the year. Over the next few weeks there are so many things happening but that would take me all day to write them up here. However, I would like to draw your attention to a particular event that I know will be very beneficial to all parents. Our Easter Services will be on Tuesday 2 April: Eyre and Forrest families and Wednesday 3 April: King and Stirling families. Both services will commence at 7.00pm and this is a compulsory event for all students. Please keep your eye on the Kennedy calendar for more upcoming events. So that is it for our first edition of the Kennedy Parents Connect for 2019 and may Term 1 be energetic and full of promise that good things will happen here at the College. I look forward to updating you again soon and perhaps meeting you at one of the many events coming up. Deborah Warwick How will we keep you connected?
