What to look for in today's federal budget

What to look for in today's federal budget

The 2015 federal budget is being tabled today and in preparation your Chamber advocated with the Federal Government on three primary barriers to ensure long-term economic competiveness:

  • Incentivizing venture capital
The inaccessibility of early stage capital investment is stunting the growth of Canada’s small and medium-size businesses. Addressing this issue would
increase the flow of investments and create a sustainable venture capital ecosystem.
  • Solving the skilled labour shortage
With numerous untapped or underutilized labour pools, we need to encourage greater investment to address the skills gaps in our economy.
  • Investing in infrastructure
As Canada’s infrastructure continues to deteriorate, we need to invest in keeping it safe and reliable for business.

Learn more about our priorities and recommendations for the federal budget.

Time to optimize: Google is rolling out a new "mobile-friendliness" search algorithm

In the last couple of years mobile usage has overtaken desktop and now accounts for 60% of browsing time and as of today, Google is expanding its use of “mobile-friendliness” as a search ranking signal. The use of this algorithm means that if your site provides a good mobile experience, you'll be rewarded with higher search rankings.

Learn about the importance of mobile-optimization and then talk with your website provider.

Optimizing your website for mobile will increase search visibility, boost conversions and ultimately generate more revenue for your business. You can test the mobile-friendliness of your website using Google's Mobile Friendly Test
