Federal Minimum Wage Case

BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION GENERAL ON-SITE MODERN AWARD 2010

The Fair Work Commission issued the federal minimum wage case decision on 30 May 2019, which provides for a wage increase of 3% per week for employees covered by federal Modern Awards including the Building and Construction General On-site Award 2010. 

The minimum federal adult wage rate is $740.80 per week.

The effective date of the increase is the first pay period commencing on or after 1 July 2019.  

  • Daily Building and Construction General On-site Award
  • Weekly Building and Construction General On-site Award
  • Apprentice Wage Rates - 4 year Apprentice - has completed year 12
  • Apprentice Wage Rates - 4 year Apprentice - has NOT completed year 12
  • Apprentice Wage Rates - 3 year Apprentice
  • Adult Apprentice Wage Rates

Who do the new wage rates apply to?

The federal minimum wage rates apply to employers that are Pty Ltd companies and some family trusts with an Australian Company Number (ACN).

Who do these new wage rates NOT apply to?

These wage rates do not apply to employers who remain covered by the state industrial relations system such as a partnership or sole trader or some family trusts.

 Payment of wages

The Building and Construction General On-site Award prescribes the payment of wages as being weekly payable in cash, cheque, EFT or similar transfer with payment to be made by the end of ordinary work hours on Thursday of each week.

Employers may obtain a copy of the Building and Construction General On-site Award 2010 at www.fwc.gov.au by accessing the menu of awards and modern awards.

Schedule B of the Award sets out the classification and duties under the new Award.
