We find the days of August have been somewhat challenging for the Canberra Region community .. and beyond. We are wondering how you are doing? We know there are many who are impacted adversely by the current times. We have many Friends and Partners and a Karinya Family that extends across the Region. You and all of our community here and beyond are to mind as we all find our way across these days. Services at Karinya House continue as normal 24/7. Same but different is the term that comes to mind. In recent days, two women have "fallen in love" with their newborns. Referrals are constant and we are currently walking alongside 47 women. Every day we have the ever present times of moments of joy, inspiration, hope, strength, humanity ... and those are the moments we hold on to. The Editor (working remotely) asked someone at the House to step outside to refresh their head space and share a couple of images. The images above are the result! Why not join us in September for the 2021 Mercy Walk for Women...Join us for the 9th Mercy Walk for Women being held online and across the Canberra Region over September 2021. We invite individuals, families, Corporate Teams, Community Groups and Social Clubs… anyone really, across our Region to step up and step out across September 2021. Do your 23 kilometres any way you like across the month. You can double the impact too, with all donations over September matched (see the snippet below!). We know there are many who are impacted adversely - and particularly financially at the moment. If however, you are one who finds that restrictions do save a few dollars.. this post may be for you. Every woman who is pregnant or parenting a baby, should be surrounded with the support she needs. One of the main supports is time. The services we provide are not simple to explain. Our services take time to give time and space and safety. Our services are there for the journey - every woman's journey. However long it takes... This September - your donation will be matched - $ for $ - by our Matched Giving Fund Partners. Double your Impact and invest in the lives of women in our community. We encourage our supporters to become members of the Association. Membership of the Association is indicative of support for the services of Karinya House for women in our community. If you would like to become a member of our Association, the initial per annum cost is $21 (includes the joining fee 😎). PS - if you cannot remember if you have renewed .. just give us a call or send us an email and we will check. Snippets..From a woman we have walked alongside for quite a while, when discussing her progress towards goals: "I would not be where I am today without Karinya. (The support) has changed my life." Upon exiting Karinya House support: "I will always be so grateful for how much you have helped me for over 2 years now. I can't believe we won't get to see you anymore. I love you guys and I'm so so thankful for Karinya." I starting moving to my new place ... I hope I’ll be finished next week. I love my new place though the backyard needs hard work hehehe. I am hoping my boys will love our new house. I can cook for them and they can do what they want and me too. This is the new chapter of our life. I cannot say thank you enough. We hope to see you soon. From a volunteer: a Good Wishes message during COVID times: "If ever I’ve wanted to hug an organisation, it would be Karinya. I hope you can understand what I’m saying, because I think, I know, it’s so special to so many people whose lives have been enriched by the care and love given by everyone."
