Congratulations Rob!PEPANZ and Shell New Zealand Chair Rob Jager has received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Safeguard New Zealand Workplace Health and Safety Awards. The award is recognition of the role Rob has played in nearly every significant health and safety initiative over the last decade. Among Rob's achievements in Health and Safety are his leadership of Be Safe Taranaki, the Business Leaders' Health and Safety Forum, the Canterbury Rebuild Safety Charter, and the Independent Taskforce which recommended the establishment of Worksafe New Zealand. Well done Rob, we think it is thoroughly deserved. Talking Business in TexasEnergy and Resources Manager Judith Collins recently led a petroleum sector delegation to Texas. The delegation included PEPANZ Chief Executive Cameron Madgwick and PEPANZ Members NZOG's Andrew Jefferies and Todd Energy's Joanna Breare, as well as officials from NZP&M. During the visit, the delegation attended the American Association of Petroleum Geologists' Annual Convention and Exhibition in Houston, as well as meeting with exploration and service companies to discuss investment opportunities in New Zealand. The 2018 Australasian Exploration Geoscience Conference is being held in Sydney from 20-21 February. The Conference is hosted by the Australian Institute of Geoscientists, Australian Society of Exploration Geophysicists and the Petroleum Exploration of Australia.The 2018 Conference will be delivering a high-calibre technical programme, which will include section on New Zealand, Australia, China, Far East Asia and Papua New Guinea. We are really proud of it, and think you will like it too. We think it better reflects who we are us as an Association and better meets your needs. Callaghan R&D Employment GrantsCallaghan Innovation is now inviting businesses to apply for R&D Experience Grants. The R&D Experience Grant is an internship designed to facilitate suitable work experience during the summer student break. The grant allows you to access funding of $7,200 for an undergraduate student (studying science, engineering, technology, design) to work (400 hours) over summer months on a specific R&D troubleshooting type project. But you need to get in quick, applications close 15 June! Funding Grants are now available for female leaders in oil and gas!Women & Leadership New Zealand (WLNZ) is administering a national initiative to support the development of female leaders across New Zealand's oil and gas sector. The initiative is providing women with grants of between $3,000 and $8,000 to enable participation in a range of leadership development programmes. The leadership development programmes are part-time and delivered nationally via WLNZ's blended learning model. Scholarship funding is strictly limited and has to be allocated by 30th January 2017. Shell sponsorship helping deliver resultsToutouwai (North Island Robin) have returned to Mt Taranaki after 112 years.Fifty birds were returned to the Mountain as part of Taranaki Mounga, an ambitious restoration project which PEPANZ Member Shell is a foundation sponsor. Other sponsors include the TSB Community Trust, Jasmine Social Investments and Landcare Research, as well as the Department of Conservation, Taranaki iwi Chairs and the Next Foundation. Go Statoil!Congratulations to PEPANZ Member Statoil, who received a score of A- in the Carbon Disclosure Project's (CDP) 2016 Climate Survey. Statoil ranked second among oil and gas peers and significantly improved it's year on year result. This improvement is the result of a systematic and dedicated effort to reduce greenhouse gases and work to improve transparency and climate related disclosures to investors and stakeholders.
Parties speak at PEPANZ BreakfastsWe are keen to connect our Members with decision makers and influencers. So far this year we have had presentations at our business breakfasts from Minister and Resources Hon Judith Collin and Labour Spokesperson Dr Megan Woods, and there will be more to come. We hold business breakfasts and other Member events on a regular basis, both in New Plymouth and in Taranaki.
