Sexual issues are common in HIV-positive men on stable antiretroviral therapy (ART), researchers report in the Journal of Sexual Medicine. 

Their study involved 87 men who had comprehensive medical exams and completed a series of questionnaires. All of the men were HIV-positive and had undergone stable ART for 2 to 9 years.

Assessments were conducted at baseline and again 12 months later.  

About a third of the participants experienced sexual difficulties. Erectile dysfunction (ED), reduced libido, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and poor sperm quality were some of the most frequent issues, the authors noted.
