Virtual Immersion to Turkey

Experience the benefits of an immersive overseas study trip – minus the jetlag. You’ll learn how key business concepts apply to a country’s environment, interact with experts and executives in the destination, and enjoy virtual cultural activities.

The Turkey Virtual Immersion is linked to the 3-credit elective IB 2509 / Spring 7B 2021 (CRN 35857).

**Students can self-register for the class. There are no additional costs besides the 3-credits of tuition.**

  • INSTRUCTOR: Professor Bora Ozkan
  • DATES: Spring 7B term; March 10 – April 26, 2021
  • CLASS MEETINGS: Mondays & Wednesdays, 9 – 10:30 am (all online)

Examine Turkey as a financial hub and bridge between European and Middle Eastern markets. Find out what makes Turkey different from other emerging markets, including its massive outward foreign direct investment (FDI) increases in recent years and its memberships in the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) as well as the European Union Customs Union (EUCU).

  • COURSE TOPICS: International finance; emerging markets; historical and modern economies
  • VIRTUAL CULTURAL ACTIVITIES: Turkish tea and coffee experience, cruise of the Bosporus and bazaar tour, whirling dervish demonstration
