This month has seen the close of Oliphant Science Awards registrations, with 107 schools participating and 2,172 projects submitted!

The program for the ACHPER (SA) / SASTA Conference on 20 July has been released and STEM - beginning with science workshops with a focus on Chemical Sciences will run in August.

STEM teaching and learning involves the successful integration of science, mathematics and technology. Planning and implementing effective lessons that have STEM focus depends largely on teachers’ understanding and knowledge of the subject matter.

These workshops aims to deepen teacher’s science content knowledge and expertise in teaching that content to all kinds of learners and will focus on Chemical Sciences.

Events and News in the Science Community

Applications are now open for the 2018 ASTA Japan Science Teachers Exchange. This exchange provides an opportunity for secondary and primary Science teachers from Australia to travel to Japan and absorb the rich culture, improve their intercultural understanding and forge new professional connections with international organisations and individuals. SCI FIGHT (science comedy debate) is on tour 21 July at 7pm! Your host Alanta Colley (of Parasites Lost and Days of our Hives) will attempt to govern a group of Adelaide's funniest nerds and smartest comedians to fight it out (rhetorically) for your approval (literally) live on stage (physically).
