Click here April 2021As we look forward to reopening Cove Park on Monday 3 May, we are pleased to share news of our 2021 programme of awarded residencies, selected following an open call for applications last year and through collaborations with other cultural organisations. We would like to thank the advisors and partners involved in this process and look forward to welcoming the artists to Cove Park this year. Please scroll down to see who will be taking part in our Craft & Design, Experimental Film & Moving Image, Literature & Translation and Visual Arts programmes. We are happy to announce details of two collaborative projects: The Work Room/Cove Park residency, now in its third year, and a new pilot residency, for an artist with a learning disability, developed in partnership with Artlink Central and Project Ability, and supported by the Rix-Thompson-Rothenberg Foundation. More information on these programmes and the artists involved is given below. We are looking forward to welcoming those taking part in our Independently-Funded programme this year. We do still have space for artists, researchers, writers and makers who can self-fund their own time at Cove Park from 3 May 2021 onwards and offer Recovery Residencies and Team Away Days to support individual and organisational recovery following the Covid-19 pandemic. Scroll down for more information. We are sad to announce that Vanessa Paynton, Cove Park's Director of Facilities & Public Programme, is leaving Cove Park this month. Vanessa has made an enormous contribution to every aspect of the organisation, leading the development of our engagement programme, producing the Experimental Film & Moving Image residencies and overseeing capital development projects. However we are delighted she is taking on a new position as Executive Director of Art in Healthcare. We will miss her immensely and wish her every success in her new adventure. Vanessa's departure means we are now seeking to appoint a new Director of Facilities. Further information on the role and how to apply is available here and the deadline for applications is Friday 7 May 2021. We are also seeking new Trustees to join our growing Board, as both Hugh Anderson and Carol Sinclair come to the end of their terms in August. Both Hugh and Carol joined the Board in 2014 and made contributions to our work in relation to property management and HR and EDI policies respectively. We would like to thank them both for their time, generosity and support. Further information on the role and how to apply is available here and the deadline for applications is Monday 24 May 2021. Its members are artists who work in dance, movement and choreography. The Work Room / Cove Park Residency 2021 has been awarded to dance/performance artist and maker Suzi Cunningham and to video and dance artist Monika Smekot. The residencies allow each artist to explore a new dimension within their practice and to work directly with collaborators. Suzi will collaborate with dance artist and maker Jen Cunningham, theatre maker and musician Dylan Reid, and musician and sound artist Anders Rigg. Read more about Suzi's residency here. Monika will work with cinematographer Robbie Jones and visual artist Fergus Dunnet. Details on this collaboration are available here. Image: Courtesy of Suzi Cunningham. The Artlink Central / Cove Park / Project Ability ResidencyIn partnership with Artlink Central and Project Ability, Cove Park has developed a new pilot residency programme for artists with learning disabilities and their collaborators. The residencies will begin this year and we look forward to hosting artist Cameron Morgan with collaborator Tracy Gorman. Cameron is a multi-talented and prolific artist working with Project Ability through its Aspire programme since 1991. More information on this residency is available here. We look forward to hosting a further two artists, connected to Artlink Central, in 2022 and we would like to thank the Rix-Thompson-Rothenberg Foundation for their support. Hands-On Cove Park: HOCP at HomeOur next HOCP at Home online workshop, 'Printing and Painting with Paper and Card', will be led by artist Alice Dansey-Wright on Saturday 24 April. This free event is for children aged 10 and upwards and takes inspiration from textile design and abstract paintings. An activity pack will be sent to participants in advance. Further information on the workshop and how to book your place is here.
Recovery Residencies & Team Away DaysFrom May onwards Cove Park is keen to offer residencies, micro-residencies or away days to support individual and organisational recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope to hear from businesses, organisations, working groups, academics, boards and all those who need time to reconnect, in person, outside of the spaces inhabited in the last year. These residencies and away days are designed to enable groups to reflect on what 2020 has taught them, to reassess plans and priorities, and allow the creative context of Cove Park’s breathtaking site to encourage imagining ways forward. Cove Park is 1 hour’s drive from Glasgow and sleeps up to 24 people in 10 accommodation units, including a fully wheelchair accessible bedroom, across its 50-acre site. It has a large, main centre – the Jacobs Building – which was designed to allow groups of people to work separately and together. The Jacobs Building can be set up to allow social distancing between people, and meals can either be cooked together on site or catered (for an additional fee). Prices range from £80 - £180 p/unit p/night, depending on the time of year and length of stay. Hire of the Jacobs Building for meetings, away days or conferences is £240 - £540 p/day. Please get in touch with Partnerships Manager Catrin Kemp to discuss your ideas. Image: The Jacobs Building, Cove Park Shop for Art and Support Cove ParkWe have been commissioning exclusive limited edition prints and artworks since 2006, working with artists such as Claire Barclay, Christine Borland, Nathan Coley, Graham Fagen, Louise Hopkins, Charlotte Prodger, Ross Sinclair and Simon Starling.
