The Oliphant Science Awards is wrapping up.. With over 1800 projects received for the competition, the winning projects were on display at the Open Day with 1400 people in attendance. Early Career Teachers Conference Knowledge on its own isn’t enough; it’s the understanding of the science content that brings it to life. The Early Career Teachers Conference is aimed at teachers in the first five years of teaching science/STEM or those new to a specialist science or STEM role. The program includes specialised workshops for both Primary and Secondary Teachers. We encourage you to pass this information onto any Early Career Teachers at your site. It was the largest marine oil spill in the history of the petroleum industry in the Gulf of Mexico. What would we do if this occurred on one of our pristine coastlines? A solution to this wicked problem has been recently invented by Flinders University researcher, Dr Justin Chalker. Justin has developed a sponge-like material that soaks up crude oil and diesel spills. Come and listen to Justin on Tuesday, 18 September from 5:30pm at Flinders University Victoria Square, where he will discuss unpublished work and how the invention benefits the environment.
