Standards in action across Healthcare

Our goal is to work together with industry to support improvements to safety and quality in Healthcare through the implementation of GS1 standards.

This newsletter highlights some of the initiatives within the local and global Healthcare community where GS1 standards have been implemented as part of improving Healthcare.​

 

Medication safety continues to be a focus for healthcare 

The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare released its third edition guide to Electronic Medication Management on Friday 10 November. This is one of several documents from the Commission focussed on ensuring safer practices related to medicines.

For those focussed on the supply chain - unique identification of products and locations, traceability, data standards and electronic messaging, these are all referenced in section 8.4 as important foundations for safer medication management.

Data Quality Improvement program – real improvements starting to take shape

Tangible results are becoming apparent twelve months into the Data Quality Improvement program. An increasing number of suppliers are achieving Gold and Platinum status and others improved from their original quality rating.
