June NewsWelcome Cr Theresa FedeliPirctured above: Cr Theresa Fedeli Camden Region Economic Taskforce would like to warmly welcome our newly appointed Director, Cr Theresa Fedeli. We would also like to thank our outgoing Director Cr Peter Sidgreaves for his dedication and time served on the Board. Cr Fedeli was first elected to Council in 2012, serving as Deputy Mayor from 2014 to 2015 and again from 2016 to 2019. In April 2019 she was elected Mayor. Cr Fedeli has managed her family’s sub-contracting business in the building and construction industry for the past 30 years. She sits on a variety of Council committees, including the Seniors and Australia Day committees, and is a past Rotarian and is a recipient of a Paul Harris Award. Last Friday Camden Region Economic Taskforce in partnership with Western Sydney University held a "Future of Digital Business for Small Business" event held at Camden Council. This event attracted over 60 attendees where the presenters gave their insights into digital technologies, and how they can be used to improve the way you generate new business. There was also an interactive "technology in action" session following the presentations where attendees got the opportunity to experience the latest technologies like augmented reality, 3D printing and more. Narellan Sports Hub expansionConstruction on the second stage of the Narellan Sports Hub will start in the middle of next year following Camden Council Councillors giving it the go ahead at a recent Council Meeting. The will be 14 new netball courts, in addition to a huge new athletics facility, an extended international rugby league field, a new cycling and walking track and 1,000 carparking spaces. Destination NSW reports NSW Tourism is edging towards $11 billion!Destination NSW CEO Sandra Chipchase said that in the year ending December 2018 NSW received nearly 4.4 million visitors (+3.0 per cent) who stayed 96.2 million nights (+2.4 per cent) and spent $10.7 billion (+4.3 per cent). ACCC targeting scams reportACCC has released a Targeting Scams Report, which reveals that Australian business reported more than 5,800 scams to ACCC with losses exceeding $7.2 million in 2018.
