The Restart Vermont Technical Assistance Program (ReVTA) will provide technical assistance to hundreds of Vermont businesses negatively impacted by COVID-19. The state’s regional development corporations (RDCs) have been tasked with deploying $1.17 million in technical assistance funding which was provided through the federal CARES Act. The program will leverage a regional and statewide network of technical assistance
(TA) providers. TA includes, but is not limited to, assistance for business operations, financial management, digital and marketing strategies, architecture and design, reconfiguring products or processes, updating safety measures, technology and software consulting, and legal or professional services. Each RDC will deploy a Recovery Navigator to work one-on-one with local businesses and determine what form of technical assistance is needed. The Navigator, client business, and TA provider will develop a scope of work appropriate to solving the client’s issues. The cost of the work will be covered by ReVTA. The program is expected to assist more than 250 businesses with awards averaging $3,000. All funds need to be spent by December 4, 2020. A website has been created
for businesses to register to provide assistance as well as those interested in receiving assistance. More details, eligibility requirements, and registration forms are available at vermonteconomicdevelopment.com. Contact Rutland Region Recovery Navigator Tyler Richardson with questions. Governor Phil Scott and the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development continue to announce openings under the phased approach to restarting Vermont's economy. Governor Scott announced Friday that restaurants and bars can now utilize bar seating if patrons are six feet apart and a partition is in place between the patrons and the staff behind the bar. Capacity limits were also removed from lodging properties, and multi-room lodging operations may book 100 percent of their rooms. Governor Scott also announced that the Cross-State Travel
Map will be updated each Tuesday to give Vermonters and visitors more time to plan their weekend travels. ACCD also announced that the Economic Recovery Grant Program is fully subscribed. The Legislature is working on another round of funding for the program and the ACCD anticipates announcing details of that program soon. If you have an application that is in process, ACCD is continuing to process those in the order they were submitted until the remaining funds are gone. The deadline to complete the 2020 Census is quickly approaching. In order to be counted, respondents must complete the form by September 30. The Census is important because the population count determines how many representatives each state will have in congress for the next 10 years and how much federal funding communities will receive for roads, schools, housing, and social programs.
