1. Bird flu restrictions lifted across Great Britain, but outbreaks continue in Asia and continental Europe

Bird keepers urged to remain vigilant as measures brought in last winter to curb the spread of avian flu were lifted this week. However, the disease continues to shake up Europe and prompts further action in Asia.

2. Up to 200 sickened across EU and UK with Salmonella

21.05.2021. Sweden/Denmark. Salmonella

200 people across 11 countries in Europe could possibly be part of a Salmonella Braenderup outbreak. The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) are supporting with the investigation closely with European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).

According to new research published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, infections from antimicrobial-resistant strains of Salmonella are on the rise; posing a serious threat to public health.

5. E. coli outbreak amongst children linked to organic yoghurt

A recall of yogurt in Washington state due to E. Coli O157:H7 is likely connected with an outbreak involving as many as 11 people, with all but one being children.
