Moratorium Bill Stalls in Committee

On Monday, BATC’s moratorium bill (SF 2694) attracted intense debate in the Senate Local Government Committee. With a strong coalition of housing groups in support of a notice and public hearing requirement prior to the imposition of a housing moratorium, opposition from several local government and environmental groups aligned to stop the bill from advancing.

Twin Cities Single Family Construction Picks Up in March

March residential construction hit a ten-year month over month high with a 22 percent increase in the number of permits pulled compared to 2015. Single-family production inched up with a two percent increase year-to-date, while multifamily production remains slow, making up only 37 percent of total activity for the year.
