Legislative Session Week 17 - What You Need to Know

Last week at the Capitol was full of victories for BATC. Here’s what you need to know:

1. Sprinkler Mandate Ban passed through House and Senate - We had two strong, bi-partisan votes last week. The sprinkler mandate ban now goes into conference committee negotiations where it will face the Governor's opposition. Read more >>

2. BATC begins work to create energy code performance path - We are working to coordinate the build-out and promotion of an energy code performance path. Read more >>

3.  Differences to be settled - Soon several conference committees will reconcile the differences in the House, Senate, and Governor’s proposals. Follow schedule here >>

4. Short Timers - The Legislature must constitutionally finish their work this year by May 18. Learn more >>

Southwest Light Rail Price Surges to $2B; Opening Delayed Until 2020

The challenge of bringing the Southwest Light Rail line just got more expensive and cumbersome, creating more questions for the controversial project. An analysis released Monday by the Metropolitan Council states that the rail line is going to take more time and an extra $341 million dollars. Read more >>





Green Path by the Numbers

We've made a difference! When we started the Green Path program in 2011 only 11 percent of the homes in the Parade of Homes tour were Green Path certified, today they make up 57 percent. NAHB: Remodelers Remain Confident

The National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) Remodeling Market Index (RMI) posted a reading of 57 in the first quarter of 2015, off slightly from the historically high level of 60 in the last quarter of 2014, but above the key break-even point of 50. Read more >>
