EUPAVE’s Environmental Strategy WG has worked on an infographic showing how concrete pavements make road more sustainable. This infographic will be released to the public during our EU Debate in December.

Izaskun Bilbao, MEP, and the European Concrete Paving Association, EUPAVE have the pleasure to invite you to their debate on “Sustainable roads towards 2050 carbon neutrality”.

The event will be held Wednesday 11 December 2019 at the European Parliament.

This study has been presented by John Elystan Richards during EUPAVE’s Concrete Safety Barriers workshop on Friday, 2nd March 2018. Following a strong interest in the topic, EUPAVE decided to share this study as a EUPAVE publication.

EUPAVE will give a workshop on “Long-Life and Circular Concrete Pavements for Sustainable Cities and Regions” during the upcoming PIARC 26th World Road Congress in Abu Dhabi from 6 to 10 October 2019. 

The event, taking place Monday 7 October pm, will address questions related to the various principles of circular economy and sustainability related to concrete roads.

The Federation of the Belgian Cement Industry, FEBELCEM, and the European Concrete Paving Association, EUPAVE organised on 12 September 2019 a joint workshop on “Two-layer concrete pavements” at MATEXPO 2019, Kortrijk.

MATEXPO is a biennial international trade fair for building equipment at Kortrijk Xpo. As the third largest trade fair of its type in Europe, it has an established reputation and receives more than 40,000 visitors.

EUPAVE’s president, Mr. Stéphane Nicoud, and Mr. Luc Rens, Managing-Director, explained why concrete pavements are the smart, safe and sustainable choice in the September 2019 issue of the International Cement Review. 

News from the International Society for Concrete Pavements:

Dr. Jeremy Gregory, Executive Director-Massachusettes Institute of Technology (MIT) Concrete Sustainability Hub (CSHub), presented information on “Concrete as a Sustainability Solution” to the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis in early August in Washington, DC. Citing recent negative reporting on greenhouse gas emissions, he explained to committee members and staffers how cement and concrete can be part of the solution to climate change and other societal issues.

The joint Paving Committee of the American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC) and the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) has assembled a Paving Tool Kit—a library of resources for concrete paving contractors and designers, and now provides content to promote & install concrete parking lots.
