St. Valentine's Day at AEAToday love is in the air at AEA! All classrooms are adorably decorated, and a special box is placed at the Information desk where all students are invited to send their valentines. Author VisitOur friend Dominic Carrillo, teen author, held a writer's workshop session and book signing this week at the AEA. The purpose of the visit was to introduce interested students to the work of the author. Dominic organized a writer's workshop with Middle and High School students in the library where children were able to give him very constructive feedback and comment on a chapter of one of his new upcoming books not published yet. Sofia Airport Field TripSofia Airport Aviation School invited AEA students on a backstage visit with a guided tour and an interactive lecture by aviation professionals and a guest speaker. The focus of the visit was airport operations, aeroplanes, satellites used in aviation, the job of the airport staff - pilots, flight attendants, passport control. Our students really enjoyed the experience and learnt a lot! Classroom ProjectsAs a class project in ELA, G5 students read in class the inspiring real story of Ben Carson, who grew up in the inner city and went on to become one of America’s most loved and highly respected doctors. G7 students had to write their fictional short stories while playing with story cubes. It was a truly great learning experience for all! Book Swap InitiativeNext week, from Feb. 19 until Feb. 21, all students and their parents are invited to take part in the first AEA Book Swap organized by AEA Student Council and the Parent Association. Within these three days, there will be a corner in front of the school GYM where all students can leave a book they would like to exchange in return for a coupon. For each coupon, a book can be taken from those already left. The initiative supports everyone in the AEA community to exchange stories meaningful to them and be inspired to read a new book! |
