Did You Know?

Did you know that anyone can leave comments and feedback that could help to improve your experience with the Nicholson School administrators or support function? All it takes to leave feedback is a quick trip to the copy room. The suggestion box is located directly in front of the copy room door. Faculty and staff will also have the opportunity to give feedback during the annual administrative functions survey, which will be administered in January. 

 

Transfer Student Success Faculty Workshop Series

Transfer & Transition Services has partnered with UCF What's Next and the Quality Enhancement Plan to offer a five-meeting faculty workshop series on transfer student success. The purpose of the series is to help undergraduate faculty recognize the challenges facing transfer students and equip them with techniques to promote student success in the major and beyond. Faculty will receive a $400 stipend for completing the series.

All meetings will be held on Fridays, 9:30–11:00 in Career Services & Experiential Learning on the following days:

Applications Open: Undergraduate Research Excellence Showcase - Feb. 9

The 2018 UCF Showcase of Undergraduate Research Excellence is now accepting applications from students working with faculty on current research and creative projects. The deadline to submit an application, including a poster abstract, is Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. The poster showcase is an opportunity for students to present their work to the UCF community and will be held from 12 - 4 p.m.on April 5 in the UCF Student Union, Pegasus Ballroom. Scholarships will be provided to outstanding presentations judged by UCF faculty.

 
 
 

Paycheck Impacted by Open Enrollment Changes

Faculty and staff should be aware that insurance plan changes made during Open Enrollment will go into effect January 1, 2018. Insurance premiums are paid one month in advance through bi-weekly payroll deductions (with the exception of Flexible Spending Accounts).

Founders' Day Honors Convocation 2018 - Apr. 4

The office of faculty excellence invites you to the 2018 Founders' Day Honors Convocation. The convocation will be begin at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 in the Student Union Pegasus Ballroom. The convocation will feature the excellence awards, service awards, and student awards, all of which will be presented to faculty, staff and students who have been exceptional members of the UCF community.

 
 
 

Retirement of Pegasus Web Server

UCF IT will be retiring the Pegasus web server service in January of 2018. If you still have a website that begins with http://pegasus.cc.ucf.edu/ and you would like to move it to the College of Sciences hosting you will need to fill out the College of Sciences website hosting request form and respond to any automated emails from the form. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Jonathan Hendricker via email at Jonathan.Hendricker@ucf.edu.

Goldwater Scholarship Applications Open
- Jan. 11

Applications for the Barry Goldwater Scholarship are available. The competition is open to sophomores and juniors who are U.S. citizens and intend to pursue careers in mathematics, sciences, or various engineering fields (pre-professional students are not eligible).

Applicants must demonstrate depth of research and academic achievement. The OPA prefers students have a GPA of at least 3.7. However, students with extensive research experience with a GPA lower than 3.7 are still encouraged to apply.

Applications are due by Jan. 11, 2018. For more information, contact the Director of the Office of Prestigious Awards, Morgan Bauer and visit the Barry Goldwater Foundation online.
