CPF BC & Yukon Chapter Representatives,

As always please forward this important information to your local chapter mailing lists, school contacts, local media, and partners. We encourage you to include additional stories and activities from your local chapter. One of the best ways to promote membership and recruit new volunteers is by effectively communicating the good work of our organization (at all levels) and the many resources available to support students and parents.

There is important information in every CRU so manke sure you read them and pass the info on at your meetings!

À bientôt,

O Canada! Launch

On Tuesday, January 14th hundreds of FSL and francophone students along with some very special guests met at Ecole Hugh McRoberts Secondary in Richmond for the official launch of the O Canada tour. This innovative and interactive show had the students, teachers and special guests clapping, laughing and some were even dancing in their seats. CBC came out to cover the event and as always, did an amazing job at showcasing this amazing project.

Sociocultural Grants???

We are still awaiting word from the Ministry of Education about the status of our Sociocultural funding. These contracts are negotiated in 5 year terms and the provincial and federal governments are currently in negotiations.

Unfortunately, this means that the process is taking longer than it normally does. We thank you all for your patience during this process and apologize for any inconvenience.

Your chapters will be notified as soon as we get notice about the grant approval.

Merci!

Concours Dates Announced - Registration March 12th - April 15th

Concours d’art oratoire is Canada’s largest annual French-language public-speaking competition involving close to 100,000 students every year, and thousands of dollars worth of prizes.

Concours is open to French Second Language (FSL) and Francophone students from grades six through 12 who are studying Core (Basic) or Intensive French, French immersion (Early or Late), or studying in a BC Francophone school (Conseil scolaire francophone).
