Anita Hill to Deliver Keynote Address at Power Women Summit 2020(Credit: Randy Shropshire for TheWrap) Lawyer, professor and equality champion Anita Hill will be a keynote speaker at WrapWomen’s 2020 Power Women Summit, the largest gathering of women in media and entertainment. With the theme “Inclusion 360,” the event will take place virtually December 8-10. Over the past month, the Hill-led Hollywood Commission has released a series of reports from its landmark Hollywood Survey of more than 9,6000 entertainment industry workers. Its initial findings on accountability found that 65% of Hollywood workers did not believe that a powerful individual, such as a producer or director, would be held accountable for harassing someone with less power. In an immediate response to these results, the Commission announced it will launch a reporting platform and a bystander intervention training pilot program designed to provide resources for victims and accountability for offenders. Hill, who served as the Power Women Summit keynote speaker in 2018, will return to the stage to discuss her progress, research and new programs. Emilia Clarke on the Importance of Female Mentors in the Film Industry(Credit: Courtesy of Emilia Clarke) Since 2015, Chanel and Tribeca Enterprises (co-founded by long-time WrapWomen friend Jane Rosenthal) have selected young, female and/or non-binary filmmakers to participate in their joint mentorship fund competition Through Her Lens. Among this year's mentors is "Game of Thrones" star Emilia Clarke. Ahead of the event, Vogue caught up with Clarke who spoke about the value of mentorship and paying it forward. "I didn’t really have a mentor. I’ve sort of gone through every job like, 'Okay, they’re my mentor on this one,'" said the actor. "As I’ve had more experiences, I’ve met more people, and a few of those people, in the most beautiful way, have become people that I now lean on in a way that I never thought I would. And they come from different places as well. You’d think an actor needs an actor, a director needs a director, a writer needs a writer—not at all. One of my work gurus, [whom] I tend to ask, 'What do you think?' on almost everything, is a writer. You never know where the help is going to come from. You never know what’s going to resonate with you or with someone else. Having as many experiences as you can with as many people as you can is only going to put you in an even better place to really understand what your voice is." Demi Lovato Reflects on Her Coming Out Journey (Credit: Getty Images) Demi Lovato wants people to know: “I identify as queer, and I am here.” The singer-songwriter got candid about her sexual identity in conversation with Queer Eye star Tan France as part of Facebook Watch’s “Coming Out 2020.” The livestream, which was hosted by Demi and Tan, took place on Friday, October 9 in order to celebrate National Coming Out Day, on Sunday, October 11. For a while, she explained, she turned to music as a comfortable space in which she could be her authentic self. “There were times where I wrote songs about girls that my fans thought I wrote about a guy,” Demi said. “I’m surprised that some of them didn’t figure out that some of the songs were for certain people. I was sharing it with the world, yet I wasn’t being completely obvious with what I was talking about. Music was my safe space.” Rhianna’s Savage x Fenty Fashion Shows The Power of The Body Positivity Movement(Credit: Amazon/ Savage x Fenty) Women and girls are falling in love with themselves anew after streaming Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty 2020 Fashion show. It showcased amazingly stylish lingerie and loungewear, featuring women of different skin tones, shapes, and sizes. It was an unequivocal rejection of the one-size-fits-all Europeanized beauty standards that dominated American culture for centuries. The show also featured numerous celebrities including Lizzo. The Grammy award-winning body-positive Queen continues to set an example for young girls and women struggling with body-confidence and self-esteem development. After the show debuted on Amazon, Lizzo took to Instagram to celebrate her contribution to the show, “Just when you thought I couldn’t love myself anymore.” 7 Things You Must Do If You Hang Out With Your Friends Indoors, According to Doctors(Credit: Getty Images) So, many of us are now wondering how we can keep seeing friends as the weather gets colder, how we can create a coronavirus-safe "pod," and if it's okay to spend time with people (outside of those you live with) indoors.
