In alignment with NACADA's Global Advising Week, May 4-8, 2026, the University of Pittsburgh is dedicated to recognizing and appreciating academic advisors. We would love to give students the opportunity to share a note of appreciation about their advisors. Please submit this advisor appreciation form and your shoutouts will be shared with our advising community all week.

This year, the Graduate Student Organization of the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences will recognize three Graduate Student Teaching Assistants or Instructors for excellence in graduate student teaching. All undergraduates are eligible to submit nominations. Nominated graduate students are then invited by the Teaching Award Committee to apply for the award.

The deadline for nominations is May 10, 2026. Please share this information with undergraduates in your departments and encourage them to nominate a graduate student instructor or teaching assistant that they found to be exceptional.

Identity and Intergroup Relations Lab

In the Identity & Intergroup Relations Lab, we research interactions between members of different social groups (e.g., gay people and straight people, Black people and White people, etc.), what influences the quality of these interactions, and what we can do to improve them. We also research the outcomes that follow from these interactions, particularly for members of minoritized groups (e.g., disparities in health and wellbeing, identity threat, etc.). Current projects in the lab examine when and why people choose to reveal or conceal their stigmatized identities, and what the downstream effects of prejudice reduction interventions are for minoritized-group members.

The Cognitive Dynamics Laboratory at UC San Diego (Department of Psychiatry) is recruiting a Staff Research Coordinator to support clinical research with individuals with serious mental illness, including mood and psychotic disorders. The position focuses on studies using digital health strategies to improve cognitive function.

Responsibilities include recruitment and screening, administering structured clinical interviews and cognitive/diagnostic assessments, collecting mobile technology data, maintaining REDCap databases across multiple projects, preparing IRB and funding agency progress reports, training research assistants, and coordinating with linked study sites.

The role is ideal for someone with a bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field, experience administering structured psychiatric interviews, and familiarity with REDCap. Prior experience working with individuals with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder is valued, alongside experience with therapeutic treatment approaches and skills.

This is a full-time in-person career appointment based in La Jolla (San Diego), CA. Hiring pay scale is $31.23–$35.89/hour.

The Department of Neurology is anticipating an open entry-level position soon for a research assistant (psychometrist) to administer neuropsychological tests for a large National Institute on Aging-funded study, affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC). This will be an excellent opportunity for graduating seniors interested in clinical psychology, neuropsychology or aging / dementia and building relevant experience in an exciting, multi-disciplinary clinical research setting.
