Te Karere Haumaru (Safety Messages) Throughout the month of September we had both Tongan and Maori Language Weeks! To celebrate all of our volunteer Surf Lifeguards, Administrators, Coaches, BBQers, Cheerleaders & SLSNZ families with Tongan and Maori Heritage, we translated our important safety messages into Tongan and Te Reo which we shared on Facebook. Through this we were able to further educate the public about the importance of beach safety. As one might say, He'ikai fe'unga ke 'ilo ha lea 'e taha (one language is never enough). Call for Rescue Victim Stories We are currently looking for people who've been rescued by Surf Lifeguards and are willing to share their story. If you know anyone who has been rescued and is willing to share their story with us, please contact our Media & Communications Manager Melanie Louden at melanie.louden@surflifesaving.org.nz.
