It proved to be a lovely setting, especially given the perfect weather. Parents and grandparents sat on the limestone walls and the children filled the space in front and to the sides of the stage. 5W opted to look on from the balcony outside their classroom. 6G gave a stellar performance – original, creative and highly entertaining. It was a personal thrill to be the focus of their play and to be portrayed in such a positive light. The Order Provincial Comes to Visit During their time here Sr Lucy addressed the children and staff at our prayer assembly before spending an hour or so touring the school and visiting classrooms. Sister Maureen (leader of the OLG Convent), along with Sr Joseph and Sr Emelia make up the WA contingent of the Order. Sister Emilia is a nurse and works at Hollywood Hospital. These three prepared a delicious morning tea for the staff. (Photo from left to right: Srs Emelia, Maureen, Lucy and Joseph) Apart from the pastoral care of the sisters in the WA outpost of the Order, the visit served to better familiarise both Sister Lucy and Rita with the work of the Order in Perth, and in particular, North Beach. I believe Sr Lucy went away well pleased with what the Order achieved in leading OLG for over 50 years; with the work they continue to do and the legacy they have created for the good of our community. Melisa Wendt gave me this photo. It highlights her eye for landscape in the way it features the large tree which forms a backdrop to the stage area. God bless Canteen Specials for Term 4 This week's assembly is presented by students in 6G. Parents of 6G children are invited to the staff room after the assembly for a cuppa with Mrs Jacquie Hardwicke. Congratulations to the students who received Merit Awards at last week's assembly. Library Roster 2019 PLACEMENTS: Please let the office know as soon as possible if your child is not returning to OLG in 2019 or if you are changing address over the holidays. Looking forward to seeing everyone this week! BOOK FAIR! BOOK FAIR! Rhyme Time A reminder to parents that the children need to be accompanied down the ramp and through the carpark. LAP - EXPRESSION OF INTEREST It focuses on the wellbeing, emotional and social needs of students through the powerful and positive contribution of trained mentors. All LAP volunteers must complete training to participate in the program. They must have a valid Working with Children Card, follow the OLG Code of Conduct and adhere to the requirements of Confidentiality. We are fortunate to have many volunteers at our school that are happy to commit to supporting children that would benefit from one to one time for half an hour each week. This time may be spent setting goals that will then be worked on to aim for successful learning in the classroom, it may involve the child pursuing a hobby, they may participate in confidence building activities, there are many possibilities on how the time is used. It does not involve tutoring or extra time for completion of school work. Potentially LAP:
Please contact Nerida Hince via the email below if you think your child would benefit from participating in LAP in 2018. Participation is voluntary, and the sessions may be ongoing, long term or short-term support/help. P & F End of Year Parents Sundowner Tickets are now on sale for the P & F End of Year Sundowner.
