Nominations for Small Business Week Awards close September 1st

Nominations for Small Business Week close September 1st

You have less than two weeks to get your nominations in for Small Business Week.

It only takes a minute to nominate yourself or another Calgary-based company with fewer than 100 employees and an amazing track record. The companies could be eligible for one of six Small Business Week awards that we’re giving out during the third week of October. The finalists for these awards will be profiled on SmallBusinessWeekCalgary.com, and will enjoy a boost in public exposure that’s been known to attract new customers, employees and business partners—and lead to higher sales.

Don’t wait. Nominate a great small business today. It’s quick, and anonymous.

Business Flood Recovery Expo: Banking tips

A couple of bankers offered some advice to business owners trying to get back on their feet after June’s terrible flooding July 31, at the Business Flood Recovery Expo July 31.

“It’s a very emotional time and you have to act on tough decisions,” said Dwayne Mann, senior vice-president, western and pacific region for ATB. “But don’t act on emotion, try to assess each situation as rationally as possible.”

About 250 business people came to the expo organized by the Calgary Chamber of Commerce to get one stop shopping for information about flood recovery from about 50 speakers and exhibitors.

See what else the bankers had to say at the expo.
