Outsider & Folk Art Auction at Tajan, Paris

The impressionist and modern art department of Tajan will present an auction of outsider and folk art, comprising of 200 lots from two European collections.  

The auction includes key artists of the art movement defined by Jean Dubuffet. Among them is Louis Soutter, one of the most fascinating Swiss artists of 20th century, famous for his unique style and finger paintings. There are also many artworks by Adolf Wölfli; a large variety of naïve artists such as Camille Bombois, Aloys Zotl, Aloïse Corbaz, Michel Nedjar and Douanier Rousseau; and examples of singular art, or "Neuve Invention", for example the paintings of Gaston Chaissac.

Outsider Art Fair, New York

This week, the 26th edition of the Outsider Art Fair is taking place in New York at The Metropolitan Pavilion, with more than 60 galleries from around the world exhibiting.

Alternative Visions in Cheltenham, UK

Developed in partnership with Outside In and Arts & Health South West, 'Alternative Visions' at The Wilson, Cheltenham, is a celebratory exhibition bringing to light new work by 20 previously undiscovered artists from the south west of England. The exhibition will move to Poole Museum from March 21 until May 6, 2018.

In the Prinzhorn Collection's current exhibition, 'The Team as Curator', each member of the museum’s staff has selected their favourite works from the historical collection, including some new entries and works never shown before to the public. The artworks range in size from 4.4 cm x 3.6 cm up to 6 m x 2.3 m, with some having been created on unconventional materials such as toilet paper or bed linen. Also included are original letters by Hans Prinzhorn and large black and white glass slides which Prinzhorn used for lectures, some showing works that have since been lost.
