New CEO and President for the PWIA message from David Packer, current CEOOn March 23rd I will be handing over the role of CEO to Stephen Barber. Stephen will step down from President and Joan Heery will become the PWI’s new President. They, and the excellent support team, will give a strong lead as the PWI continues to develop and strengthen its services to members and support to the industry. I’ve been proud to lead the Institution through a period of substantial change since 2010 and have – of course – benefited from a great team working with me. I’m retiring from the PWI but not from the rail industry or from life! The future is full of opportunities for me and for the PWI. New PWI training course - S&C RefurbishmentDelegates on this two-part course will gain a comprehensive detailed knowledge of S&C and how to undertake refurbishment safely, efficiently and to the required engineering quality. The course will cover both the track assemblies and the trackbed under S&C. Suitable for both newly qualified and experienced rail engineers. PWI JournalWe are always looking for technical articles for the quarterly PWI Journal. Articles should be no more than 4000 words long with good high quality images and diagrams. Subjects could cover technical theories, project reports including lessons learnt, innovations in rail infrastructure engineering, interesting international projects. For further information or to submit an article please contact journaleditor@thepwi.org, (if you submit an article please send using www.wetransfer.com as there is a limit of 8Mb on our mailbox). Professional Registration - start your professional registration journey todayWe have simple to follow routes to registration for EngTech, IEng and CEng. Visit www.thepwi.org/professionalregistration or contact us at profeng@thepwi.org if you are interested. Professional Registration - Mentors We are looking for more mentors to help our members put together their documents at TRO or Professional Review. If you are retired or now have some time to support others in their journey, please offer up your services. There is nothing better than helping others to progress and help them make our railways and tramways better for the future. And finally...feedbackI am always interested in feedback on the PWI both from members and non members. What could we offer that we are not currently offering? What do we do very well? What could we do better?
