As of early Saturday morning, both the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives have each passed a version of a tax reform bill. The Senate bill maintains the mortgage interest deduction (MID) at it’s current form of $1 million, while the House version halves the MID to the first $500,000 of a loan. Housing First Minnesota has encouraged, and will continue to encourage, Minnesota’s delegation to prioritize homeownership as the tax discussion heads to conference committee.

The November Permit Numbers
|
After a flat October, Twin Cities home builders made up for it in November. The number of single-family permits pulled in November spiked to 586, increasing 30 percent over November last year. “Consumer confidence is at an all-time high, and production should continue to grow as we look ahead to 2018. We know the demand is there, we’re concerned that the labor shortage will hold back the market.” - Bob Michels, Housing First Minnesota President
