Four million Australians 14+ (21%) have now disconnected from home phone landlines and use only a mobile. Over another third (34%) of Australians would consider becoming ‘Mobile Only’ phone customers. In all, 58% now use their mobile phone more than their home phone.

Latest findings

An Apple computer user aged over 50 is as likely to
stream TV as a Windows user 18 to 24

 
 

Across all age groups, Apple Home Computer users are more likely to stream videos, TV or movies than Windows Home Computer users. Watching videos on sites such as YouTube is the most popular type of audio-visual internet activity, with 63% of Apple users and 48% of Windows users streaming video in an average four weeks.

56% of Woolworths shoppers say the supermarket carries the brands they want, 7% points below the store’s peak in October 2011. Coles has fallen even further, now 52%, down 9% points since June 2011.

Litreship battles: Coles and Woolworths home-brand milks
tied for first as Dairy Farmers and Pura continue to fall

 
 

Home-brand milk sales at both supermarkets has declined after peaking at 26% for Woolworths and 24% for Coles in March 2012 to being 22% each in March 2013. Sales of Dairy Farmers and Pura branded milks—already on the decline before the pricing battle—both fell for the fifth straight year.

In the 12 months to March 2013, 23% of Australians aged 14+ purchased home hair-colouring products in an average six-month period and the top three hair-colour brands were L’Oreal (purchased by 6% of the population), Clairol (4%) and Garnier (3%).

Consumer Confidence virtually unchanged at 118.1
despite plunge in Roy Morgan Government Confidence

 
 

Consumer Confidence is up 0.6pts in a week in response to a rise in confidence about economic conditions in Australia over the next 12 months. Now 32% (up 4%) of Australians expect ‘good times’ economically over the next twelve months compared to 27% (unchanged) that expect ‘bad times’ for the Australian economy.

ALP would still win Federal Election; although big drop in
Roy Morgan Government Confidence Rating

 
 

This week’s Morgan Poll shows a small gain for the L-NP however  the ALP (52%, down 0.5%) would still win a Federal Election ahead of the L-NP (48%, up 0.5%) on a two-party preferred basis. The ALP primary vote is 38.5% (down 3%), ahead of the L-NP primary vote at 41.5% (up 0.5%).
