From the editors...

The student newsletter is produced every fortnight by the Internal Communications team so we can share news, announcements, selected events and some requests for help. 

If you wish to communicate around the University, the newsletter is just one way to do that. Please check our Methods of Internal Communication webpage, and feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.

The next newsletter will distributed on Wednesday 8 March - the deadline is 4pm on Friday 3 March.

Prospectus & Virtual Reality Goggles Launch

Recruitment for 2018 undergraduate students is about to start, with teams from the University travelling round the UK and abroad to recruitment fairs.  To demonstrate how we’ll be promoting the University at these events External Relations is cooperating with DUSA to set up part of our UCAS stand within the Pavement Café in DUSA on Tue 28 Feb between 10.30am and 3.30pm.

Staff from External Relations will be on hand throughout that time to let you try out the new virtual reality campus tour, look over the 2018 prospectus and give us feedback.

DUSA are kindly offering half-price coffees during that time as an additional draw!

2017 Sports Union Elections

The Sports’ Union elections will take place on Fri 24 Feb with polling stations in ISE from 9-5 and in Ninewells from 12-2. The results will be announced that evening at the DUSA hustings. Find out about the candidates and how to vote.

The world's only festival dedicated to celebrating women in science, technology, engineering & maths is taking place 4-10 March.

Promoting careers in science to everyone, especially women and girls, supporting professional women to develop their careers and showcasing the talented and exciting research taking place across Scotland.

Find out about who is running and what they are standing for - DUSA Elections.

Voting for the DUSA Elections takes place 28 Feb - 2 Mar, via My Dundee.

Keep an eye out for the candidates who will be campaigning. Hustings will be held in Air Bar in DUSA on Fri 24 Feb.

Mindfulness, Meditation and Relaxation (Mon 26 Feb)

If you are feeling anxious and looking for ways to cope with stress, or you just want to develop skills in mindfulness and meditation come along to Mindfulness on Mondays in the Chaplaincy Centre.  It is a small friendly group and you do not need any previous experience to join us.  These are drop in sessions so there is no need to book. Any questions, please contact Jean Jarvis 01382 385015 or email.

Proposals for papers, lightning talks, workshops or posters are welcome.

Carnegie Trust: Vacation Scholarships for Undergraduates

The Vacation Scholarship Scheme is intended for Scottish students undertaking a degree course at a Scottish university, who have shown exceptional merit at university, and who would like to devote some portion of the long vacation (typically from May onwards) to undertake a programme of independent research of direct benefit to their academic work.
