Shows | New Works | Special Announcements | From Katherine Filice Finalist Selection Taiwan IACI’m both proud and a little speechless to have two of my works selected as finalists for the International Artist Grand Prize Competition (I.A.C.) in Taipei. Organized by the Taiwan International Contemporary Artist Association, this is one of Asia’s top art contests. Over 4,200 works were submitted from artists representing 81 different countries. Of those, only 371 were chosen as finalists to be featured in the exhibit from April 25-29 at Art Revolution Taipei. To have not just one but two works selected (both from my series "The Place in Between") is an incredible honor. Next up my piece Kate & Anthony was selected to be exhibited among the incredible ArtCan talents at Elevate, which opens in London on February 6. It's hard to explain how wonderful it is to feel supported by artists around the world through this organization, a nonprofit with a global perspective. See details below. Upcoming ShowsElevate | Duff & Phelps | The Shard London | February 6 - April 30, 2019 A Year to Remember2018 was certainly a whirlwind for me, from making my debut as a professional artist at ArtRooms London in January, to having my own solo exhibit in the spring at the Gilroy Center for the Arts, to learning that one of my works was featured as one of the Top 10 Outstanding Artworks at the Asia Contemporary Art Show in Hong Kong in October. It truly has been the journey of a lifetime, and I am deeply indebted to everyone who has helped along the way. In ProgressIt was nice to spend plenty of quality time in my studio over the holidays. I am currently working on new works in two different series. The Place in Between speaks to the transformation and metamorphosis of women and explores the journey that we travel from the inside out. At the same time, I’m exploring the powerful imagery of human hands—and ways in which we are bound together through love, hate, and circumstance—in a new series, The Ties that Bind. Many thanks to my infinitely patient husband Dean for serving as a hand model on many occasions. Click the links above to see my progress. And finally, if you want to have a say in my art career, you can check out my ArtRooms Roma application and vote if you like—not to mention view over 900 other incredible works submitted.
