Reflection

God, our Father,
many times we feel powerless in the face of evil,
when the power of this world surpasses our abilities.
Help us not to let ourselves be overcome by discouragement,
but to be open to your Spirit,
and creative within our own circumstances.
May we never stop looking at the faces of our brothers and sisters who suffer
and may we always feel responsible for them.
May our prayers and concrete actions
be a sign of your closeness and your love. Amen.

Greg's Message

Hello Parents and Friends of St. Anne’s

The 59 campers and 7 staff members arrived back safely yesterday from the Sovereign Hill camp. The camp was a great success. The children learned a lot about the Gold Rush, strengthened connections with each other, and were great ambassadors for our school. Many thanks to the staff - Jenny Morsley, Tim Allen, Sarah Parker, Julie Millsom, Netitia Postans and Hannah Kahlenbach. Their 24/7 commitment to the children ensured that our students had an enjoyable and safe time - thank you!

Bat Tennis Court
The bottom “hard court” is in urgent need of replacement. Quotes are being sourced and I hope that the job will be completed this term. Our Parents and Friends Association are generously supporting this project - I’ll keep you informed on developments.

Hospitality Mass
Our first Hospitality Mass will be held on this Sunday at 10:30am. Year 1/2 will be providing morning tea and are our hosts for the mass. I hope to see a great representation of 1/2 families in attendance but, remember ALL families are warmly welcome.

Learning and Teaching

Communication
There are several digital ways we communicate with our St Anne's families: newsletter, skoolbag app, online calendar, seesaw and semester reports.

Skoolbag App
Is the best way to keep up to date with school events, reminders and permission slips. Please remember to change your settings if your child/ren have changed year group.
New parents please download the skoolbag app and set up an account. You then need to search for St Anne's Primary School and select your child's year level.

Seesaw App
This app is used to share and celebrate classroom life and activities. This is a platform that allows photos and work to be shared with families.  A printed invite will be sent home with all children this week with instructions on how to set it up so that you are able to receive notifications.

Newsletter
Please go to the St Anne's website to subscribe to the newsletter.

If you have any questions please email me or pop into school on a Wednesday or Thursday

Thanks

Parents and Friends Meeting

The first P&F meeting for 2019 was very positive and productive. Our new Parish Priest, Fr John Salvano attended so that he could introduce himself and we welcomed his expression of support for the School community.

Arrangements for the very popular and highly enjoyable Family Social Night were confirmed. It will take place on Thursday 21 February 2019 and all families are encouraged to attend. Be sure to book your place and pre-order your family’s meals (instructions included in this Newsletter and via the SchoolBag Ap). Our thanks to Sam Lovrich for pulling this together.

On Sunday 24 February 2019, the first of the School’s working bees for the year will take place. Each working bee is open to all school families so please bear this in mind. The old adage “many hands make light work” is never truer than when it comes to a working bee and it being just a two hour commitment (2pm-4pm), we trust we can count on your support. Kids are welcome too! We still need a Co-ordinator to assist Clare Bellio – please consider.

In 2019, our annual Parish Picnic will be hosted by St Anne’s, so mark Sunday 3 March from 11.30-2.30pm in your diaries. Our Glee Club will be performing, food and drink is provided for all and there will be fun attractions for the kids! We need helpers for set-up and clean-up and to man the Popcorn stand and BBQ. Sam Lovrich has kindly volunteered to co-ordinate these rosters so please show your support by volunteering for one of these tasks – the time commitment is minor.

We can look forward to a fantastic Dinner Dance this year on 15 June 2019 (save the date).  We have a focussed sub-committee led by Didi Muccio and Bianca Pezzano and it is bursting with great ideas. This is our major fundraiser for the year and the beneficiaries will be our children so there is no excuse not to come along and make this a great night for the School! With the funds we have raised over the past two years, we are going to resurface the lower playground courts. We are currently obtaining quotes and will confirm the scope of works and installation timeline very soon!

Becky Ellis, Lisa Hodgkinson and Kathleen Sexton have done a super job in refreshing the Uniform shop and we are delighted that Jocelyn Elliot has volunteered to co-ordinate it in 2019.

Finally, the P&F want to show our support for the St Anne’s swimming team by helping to help fund team t-shirts because the children participate so enthusiastically and the support they give each other is wonderful to behold. Good luck to our team for the inter-school sports on 25th February 2019!

Hopefully this gives you a snapshot of some of the things the P&F Committee members are doing but really, anyone can be involved and we don’t even need you to come to any meetings!  Our aim is to break things down into small manageable tasks so that the thought of volunteering is not overwhelming. Now it is up to all parents and friends to give just a little bit of their time in a way they can manage. The opportunities are there, please take them up. It is great fun and the difference we can make for our children is enormous!

Class Reps Wanted

The P&F are looking for 2 parents from each class to help out as class reps. This a great way to get to know other parents and be part of the school community. This year we'd love to see some Dads as well as Mums get involved.

If you are interested or have any questions, please contact Anne-Marie Moir (Henry's Mum: anne.marie.moir.71@gmail.com)
