THE DISAPPEARING MAN

Last week in the Wish List Book Club we discussed Hilary Boyd's When You Walked Back Into My Life. It was one of the group's favourite reads so far due to the wonderful writing and interesting relationships and revelations. It is a bit different to your average romantic read as one of the most moving relationships in the novel is the touching friendship between carer Flora and her patient Dorothea.

The crux of the novel is also a great reading group question – if the man you loved walked out on you after eight years, then reappeared three years later, would you, should you, take him back? Discuss . . .

GOSSIP, GHOSTS AND PECAN PIE

Out in paperback at the end of this month, The Supremes at Earl's All-You-Can-Eat is a wonderfully warm and life-affirming debut novel about three friends living in sixties Indiana.

When author Edward popped into the office, we asked him to tell us a little more about his three female protagonists and where they came from. Watch the video here.

You can also watch Simon Mayo talking about the book on his Radio 2 Book Club.

‘A FANTASTIC BOOK, FROM A FANTASTIC WORDSMITH’ – ED SHEERAN

In September 2011, Jodi Ann Bickley was diagnosed with Encephalitis (a brain infection), which she caught from a tick bite while performing poetry at Camp Bestival on the Isle of Wight. She had to teach herself to walk and write again and has since battled with neurological complications which sometimes leave her in bed for days at a time.

In February 2013, after coming close to suicide, Jodi decided she was going to use her time to do something good, so she set up Onemillionlovelyletters.com and opened her inbox to the world.

One Million Lovely Letters the book is out in February. Read more about this inspirational young woman here.
