Discover Committee for Wyndham’s October News

A Message from Our CEO, Leanne Down

As we step into November, I’m reminded of the unique and important role the Committee for Wyndham plays in uniting businesses and community leaders to shape the future of our region. Our strength lies not only in the events and initiatives we deliver, but in the meaningful connections we help build and the tangible outcomes that emerge from them.

Throughout October, we’ve seen just how vital it is for Wyndham to be part of key conversations around innovation and sustainability. From tackling the growing challenges of cybersecurity to witnessing how recycling can transform waste into valuable resources, our members continue to engage with the issues that will define the future of business and community life in Wyndham.

Looking ahead, the Committee will stay focused on its three core pillars: advocating for the issues that matter most, building connections that inspire collaboration, and sharing stories that celebrate Wyndham’s strengths and potential.

Together, we are shaping a stronger, smarter, and more sustainable future for our city.

Warm regards,
Leanne Down
Chief Executive Officer

Member Connection Spotlight

Good News Lutheran College & Mercy Health Foundation

The Committee for Wyndham is proud to showcase the impact of meaningful connections made through our membership network. A recent collaboration between Good News Lutheran College (GNLC) and the Mercy Health Foundation has given rise to a powerful project called Memory Lane, highlighting the strength of partnerships in Wyndham.

As part of Mercy Health’s Accompaniment Program for secondary schools, GNLC students visited residents at Mercy Place Wyndham across three sessions. The program, built around a four-module curriculum, is designed to challenge stereotypes about ageing, promote empathy, and encourage students to learn from the experiences of older generations.

During the visits, students engaged in conversations with residents about their childhood memories, hometowns, and leisure activities. Inspired by these stories, the students created personalised, framed posters that captured each resident’s memories, leaving a lasting memento while building intergenerational understanding.

This initiative demonstrates the power of collaboration within Wyndham where schools, health services, and community organisations come together to create programs that enrich lives. By bridging generations, Memory Lane has not only brought joy to aged care residents but has also helped nurture compassionate and socially conscious young leaders.

The Committee for Wyndham is proud to have facilitated this connection, helping to bring together like-minded members whose collaboration delivers real benefit to the Wyndham community. Creating opportunities for partnerships that strengthen our region is at the heart of what we do.
