Welcome to Issue #02 of Habitat 2013

Message from the Director

If you were in the Student Centre today, you may have seen the lounge set up like a Gold Class cinema. Students, graduates and staff presented ten snapshots of our degree for onshore and offshore staff who advise potential students. ENVI described our vibrant student community and a recent graduate spoke about his work as an Assistant Planner. Field trips to Papua New Guinea and China; a Green Roof research project; exhibited work by first year students and capstone outcomes by final year students illustrated our rich degree. We heard how our new building will be used as a teaching tool during construction but also on occupation. The final highlight were images of the outdoor People's Market in Collingwood co-designed by a BEnvs graduate with another MArch student. I dropped by the market this week on a balmy evening and enjoyed the mix of art, food and music… well worth a visit.

Managing your Enrolment

What do I need to consider before withdrawing from a subject?

International students

International students on student visas are expected to complete their course by the course end date on their Confirmation of Enrolment (COE). Usually you need to enrol in a standard load of 50 points per semester. You can only reduce your load in limited circumstances and an application is required. Further information about your visa and reducing your study load is available from International Student Services.

Local students

Local students do not need to apply to reduce their study load. Please note that dropping your study load to part-time study may affect Centrelink benefits and eligibility for public transport concession.

Withdrawing from a subject may alter the duration of your course. You can make an appointment with a student adviser if you would like to discuss your course plan.

Subject withdrawal and prerequisites
If you withdraw from a subject that is a prerequisite for subjects you intend to study in the future or is a corequisite for requisite for subjects in which you are currently enrolled, you will also automatically be withdrawn from those subjects. You can check pre- and co- requisites in the Handbook.

Further information about managing your enrolment is available on the EDSC Amending your Study Plan web page.
