STFM Supports AAMC Statement Expressing Concern Over the Executive Order on Combating Race and Sex Stereotyping
The Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) has announced their support of the The Association of American Medical Colleges' (AAMC) recently released statement related to the President of the United States' Executive Order on Combating Race and Sex Stereotyping issued on September 22, 2020. The statement expresses the AAMC's concern that the executive order exhibits a misunderstanding of the intent of diversity and inclusion training programs as unifying rather than divisive. The AAMC statement states that "the central purpose of diversity and inclusion training is, in fact, to bring the country together, not to further divide it."
Submit Narrative Works for Family Medicine Special Edition on Residency Redesign
Family Medicine requests submissions of original narrative works (poems, essays, 55-word stories) and visual arts, that describe/illustrate challenges, conflicts, and opportunities in family medicine’s graduate medical education.
The journal's goal for this special issue is to publish narrative work that supplements a series of invited scholarly papers about this topic. It invites stories about the experiences of faculty, staff, or students working in family medicine education. All submissions should comply with the journal’s instructions for authors.
STFM Work Group to Host URM Initiative Scholarship Webinar

New Task Force to Develop Health Systems Curriculum
The task force, which is part of STFM's new initiative to position academic family medicine in health systems, will develop curriculum for residents that covers ACGME requirements for systems-based practice. The curriculum will be released in mid- to late 2021.
Family Medicine Organizations Reiterate Position on Universal Virtual Residency Interviews
Several family medicine organizations signed on to a letter recommending that programs exclusively conduct virtual interviews for the 2020-21 recruitment season. The signatories include STFM, the Association of Departments of Family Medicine, Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors, North American Primary Care Research Group, as well as AAFP and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.

The ACGME Seeks Milestones 2.0 Focus Group Volunteers
The ACGME has established a quality assurance program as a part of the Milestones 2.0 implementation process and is looking for 20 volunteers in family medicine. Volunteers should be actively involved in program leadership or a member of the Clinical Competency Committee. Over the next few years, the ACGME will collect feedback about the new Milestones through a combination of focus groups and surveys.

They call themselves the Latinx Advocacy Team and Interdisciplinary Network for covid-19, known as LATIN-19.
